Whenever you want to use your underdeck space you need to install deck drainage system. Deck drainage system is a network of troughs and gutters to keep rain, spills and snowmelt from dripping through elevated deck boards creating a dry space below the deck.
Once you have installed your deck drainage system, you can design an outdoor living space that includes lights, ceiling fans, an entertainment center, an outdoor kitchen and more. Or you can have useable dry space below the deck that can be used for much needed storage.
DeckMart offers Deck drainage system from two big brands TREX and AZEK/TimberTech. These two drainage systems designed for conceptually different ways of working.
TREX RainEscape intended to be installed on deck joists prior to installing of decking boards. TimberTech DrySpace in its turn intended to be installed from underneath of the deck, with already installed decking boards.
When you install TREX RainEscape you would still need to finish ceiling underneath. This could be done either by installing Vinyl/PVC Beadboards or cedar planks, or by any other finishing material.
TimberTech DrySpace doesn’t require finishing the ceiling deck underneath. It is arranged the way that TimberTech DrySpace panels become underneath space ceiling, but in this case, you cannot install ceiling lights, fans and other accessories since there would be water exposure on cables and connectors.
